I previously joked with Ed, VP9GE that a bad day in Bermuda is better than a good day just about anywhere else. Having only visited Bermuda in the summer before, we were ready for some fun in the sun. Instead, we had cold, rain and high winds. Not quite the tropical weather we had been expecting. Note to self: always check the weather, even if you think you know where you're going!

Taking advantage of the weather, I spent a little more time on the air than originally planned. Although I was prepared to run the moment the winds subsided enough to get outdoors
for a bit. The higher bands weren't open, so 15, 17 & 20M provided most of the 1,714 QSO's. The most surprising result was running 265 RTTY QSO's on 30M.
The CQ World Wide WPX Contest was going on during this time. Just for fun I submitted my limited results and earned a "1st Place Low Power SSB Single Operator - All Band"
certificate. A nice momento from the trip, although not terribly momumental since there was no other competition.

We again stayed at Tarrafal Apartments, which are owned and managed by Mr. Ed Kelly, VP9GE. Ed provides very nice, well-equipped guest apartments and use of his nice antenna farm for visiting hams. If you're interested in visiting Bermuda, be sure to check out the link below for Tarrafal Apartments!
